Dr Abia Haq

Lead Private GP

I am an experienced GP and pride myself in providing a high level of clinical care for my patients. I have general practice experience of over 20 years. Prior to this, I gained knowledge and experience working in different specialties including diabetes, dermatology, neurology, rheumatology, psychiatry, cardiology, obstetrics and gynaecology. As a GP, I also obtained postgraduate qualifications in primary care diabetes, cardiovascular health, women's health and sexual and reproductive healthcare. Having worked as a GP partner for over 17 years, I also enjoy the management of running a practice, looking at protocols and procedures, and being the CQC manager for my team. I also offer remote appointments if more convenient for my patients.

Why patients choose us

A small price for peace of mind.

People assume private GP is expensive. £100 gets you 30 minutes with a doctor who has time to listen, ask the right questions, and explain what's actually going on. For most people, that is the difference between knowing and wondering.

Time

30 minutes per appointment, not eight. Your GP listens, asks proper questions, and explains things in language you understand.

Access

Same-week appointments. No phone tag at 8am, no waiting room, no being told to call back tomorrow.

Continuity

See the same GP each time. No retelling your story. A relationship that means something — especially for ongoing concerns like menopause or mental health.

Wait times

What the GP can help with

From everyday concerns to specialist referrals.

The GP is the front door to Optimised Care. For many things, that is where the conversation begins and ends. For others, she is the route to our urology, ENT, or surgical specialists with shared notes and continuity.

General Services

General services

The everyday reasons most people come to a GP. From routine appointments to mental health to lifestyle changes that quietly shape everything else.

Women's Health

Women's health

From PCOS and period concerns to menopause and fertility — unhurried conversations on the things that affect your life every day. We treat in primary care where appropriate, and signpost on to specialist care where surgical input is needed.

Men's Health

Men's health

Cardiovascular health, sexual health, vasectomy referrals — the conversations men often delay. A 30-minute appointment makes them easier to start, and our urology team is here when next steps are needed.

A note from Dr Abia Haq

No problem is too small. Book today and get the help you need.

Whatever you have been putting off, however small it feels, the GP would rather hear it. Sometimes the most useful thing is to share what is on your mind with someone who has time to listen.

If you have been wondering whether to book, this is your sign. The GP is here for the things you have been carrying alone, not just the obvious ones.

Frequently asked

Common questions, plainly answered.

Do I need a referral to see the private GP?
No. You can book directly. The GP service is the entry point — bring whatever is on your mind and we work from there.
Can I get a prescription on the day?
Yes. Where a prescription is appropriate, the GP will issue one in clinic. We work with the on-site pharmacy and will explain options if you would prefer your usual pharmacy.
Will the GP write me a sick note?
Where clinically appropriate, yes. Private medical letters and fit notes are issued in clinic.
Can I be referred to one of your consultants?
Yes — that's one of the strengths of seeing the GP here. If your symptoms warrant specialist input, we refer you internally to our orthopaedics, urology, ENT, or general surgery teams. Notes are shared, and you don't start from scratch with a new clinician.
Is private GP cheaper than I think?
An appointment is £100 for 30 minutes. That is more than the NHS, but the comparison is not free — it is two to three weeks for an eight-minute slot. £100 buys you time, attention, same-week access, and a written plan you can actually act on.
What if I need a follow-up?
Follow-ups are easy to book and are with the same GP, so you don't repeat your story. Many concerns resolve in one or two appointments; others (e.g. menopause management) need ongoing review and we plan that with you.
How quickly can I be seen?
Same week in most cases. Urgent same-day slots are sometimes available — call and ask.
Are face-to-face and remote appointments both available?
Yes. Face-to-face at The Bromsgrove Hospital is the default and what most patients want; telephone and video options are available where the consultation supports it.
