Step by Step
What you need to know.
Adhere to Medical Guidelines
Your Patient Coordinator provides one-on-one guidance throughout your surgical journey. Follow all prescribed medication schedules, attend every follow-up appointment, and contact our team immediately if you have any concerns.
Prioritise Rest and Gentle Activity
Allow adequate healing time through rest. Engage in gentle exercises as recommended by your physiotherapist, but avoid strenuous activities or heavy lifting until your surgeon confirms it is safe to do so.
Gradually Increase Physical Activity
Once cleared by your consultant, slowly reintroduce physical activity. Begin with low-impact exercises such as walking or swimming, and increase intensity gradually as comfort improves.
Maintain Incision Cleanliness
Keep any surgical incisions clean and dry, following the wound care instructions provided by your care team. Watch for signs of infection including increased redness, swelling, or unusual discharge.
Nutrition and Hydration
A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains supports your body during recovery. Staying well-hydrated aids the healing process and helps your body recover more efficiently.
Avoid Smoking and Alcohol
Smoking impedes the healing process significantly. Alcohol can interfere with prescribed medications and slow your recovery. Your care team will advise when it is safe to resume, if applicable.
Monitor for Complications
Watch for increased redness, swelling, warmth, or unusual discharge at the surgical site. Report any fever, severe pain, or unexpected symptoms to our team immediately. Early intervention is always better.
